Walk & Talk Therapy

What is ‘WALK & TALK’ therapy?

Walk & Talk therapy is counselling/psychotherapy while walking outdoors rather than counselling/psychotherapy in a traditional indoor office setting.

Sessions are available in a Country Park setting in Tonbridge, Kent.

What are the benefits of ‘WALK & TALK’ therapy?

  • Research shows being outdoors in a natural setting relaxes us more. The stress hormones of cortisol and adrenaline decrease, while there are increases in dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin (happiness hormones)
  • Walking in wide open spaces can feel freeing to one’s spirit and the flow of communication can be more natural and open, allowing feelings to surface that can be uncomfortable in the face to face environment
  • Movement in our body creates movement in our thoughts and can open us to new perspectives
  • Fresh air and natural breaths often bring clarity of thought and we can more easily access creative solutions to our problems

How does ‘WALK & TALK’ therapy work?

You will set the pace. Whether you want a relaxing stroll with the occasional rest on a bench or a fast paced power walk, I will be guided by you. We will be literally and figuratively moving forward together to help heal and shift whatever it is that brings you to our sessions.

Our first session will be online so we can discuss what will happen and what it will be like to work together outdoors. We will consider things like where we will meet, how the time will be managed and other issues, such as weather. It is a chance to discuss your feelings about it and any particular needs or concerns that you may have.

Who might benefit from ‘WALK & TALK’ therapy?

  • Mild or moderate depression
  • Stress or anxiety
  • Work or career worries
  • Relationship problems
  • Family issues
  • Adjusting to a new baby

The emphasis in Walk & Talk Therapy is on the therapy, and the walking is a secondary benefit. If you would like the focus of our work together to be on your physical condition, rather than emotional, please look at Personal Training.

Let’s get outside and start walking and talking!

Meet Lynne

There is an opportunity for healing in our broken places. By becoming as loving parents to the parts of ourselves that we would rather disown, we can bring them home and make ourselves whole again.
