Autogenic Training (Relaxation & Stress Support)

Autogenic training

Autogenic Training is a gentle, structured relaxation method that helps calm the body and mind. It is particularly helpful if you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or finding it difficult to switch off.

When we experience ongoing stress, the body can remain in a constant state of tension or alertness. Autogenic Training helps activate the body’s natural relaxation response, supporting rest, recovery and a greater sense of balance.

Autogenic Training (A Structured Relaxation Approach)

What is Autogenic Training?

Autogenic Training is a self-help technique learned over a number of weeks. With regular practice, it becomes a skill for life that you can draw on whenever you need to calm your body and mind.

  • feel calmer and more relaxed
  • improve sleep
  • reduce anxiety and tension
  • feel more in control of your responses to stress
  • improve concentration and focus

How the course works

  • An initial consultation to explore your needs and whether this approach is right for you
  • 8/9 weekly sessions (individual or group)
  • A follow-up session after completion

You will be guided through simple exercises and invited to practise these between sessions. Each practice only takes a few minutes and becomes easier over time.

Is Autogenic Training right for me?

Autogenic Training can be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • ongoing stress or overwhelm
  • difficulty relaxing or switching off
  • sleep difficulties
  • anxiety or tension

Many people find that once learned, Autogenic Training becomes a skill they can return to throughout their lives.

If you would like to find out more, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss whether this approach might be helpful for you.

My experience

I hold a Diploma in Autogenic Training and have been teaching this approach since 2001. In 2018 I was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the British Autogenic Society in recognition of my contribution to this work.

“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”
